4^th Annual Bust A Move raises over $11,000 for Cancer Services

 The Fort Wayne Derby Girls will present a check for $11,450 to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana at their home opening bout on Saturday, January 21. The doors open at 5pm, the first bout begins at 6 pm and the check presentation will take place at 7pm at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. The funds were raised on October 1, 2011, at the 4^th Annual Bust A Move auction. Media is encouraged to attend the presentation.

 “This donation will be used to help people with cancer in our community through programs providing financial support, medical supplies, and supportive counseling, to name a few,” says Amber Recker, director of development for Cancer Services. “When people are diagnosed with cancer, they don’t know where to turn. That’s where we come in. We are so grateful to the Fort Wayne Derby Girls for their continuous support.”

 For Bust a Move, local artists and women volunteered their talents and their bodies to create unique, inspiring cast representations of the female bust and the emotions associated with breast cancer. Local artists modified the casts, using various artistic mediums, to create outstanding works of art. The artwork was auctioned on Saturday, October 1, 2011, at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art. Over 300 people attended the event.

 2011 featured artists include: Marcy Adams, Steve Allman, Ed Alvarez, Mary Klopfer, Nick Fabini, Brian McGhee, Terry Ratliff, Jenna Salamone, Jenny Sanders, Jerry Seabolt, Jeff Stumpp, Sugarmoon, Theresa Thompson, Lisa Vetter, Deb Washler, Valerie McBride, and Dave West.
